Skincare review: Pixi Beauty

Pixi Beauty have been a favourite brand of beauty and skincare bloggers for a while now and there’s a good reason for this. They very kindly sent me two of their latest skincare ranges to try, both of which I have used daily for over 30 days each to really test the products out. So I wanted to put together this blog post to compare the two ranges and to let you know what items I enjoyed using the most and what I would recommend. There are some real game changers in these collections that you just have to try and I can’t wait to tell you about them!

Trying out new skincare products

In the past I’ve been guilty of getting stuck in a rut with my skincare routine and have had the mindset of ‘if it’s already working there’s no need to try and change anything’. But since I started blogging, I’ve realised not to limit myself and to introduce new products into my skincare routine. I think the worry of a product causing a reaction on my skin has always been at the back of my mind and that has put me off trying new brands in the past. The Liz Earle cleanse and polish has been my go to cleanser for as long as I can remember but as our skin changes over time and the beauty industry moves forward, it’s definitely good to test out new brands and products to find out what else works well for us. So here are my thoughts on the 2 new skincare launches by Pixi Beauty.

1 – The Glow Tonic Collection.

The first range that Pixi sent out to me was the glow tonic collection. The press kits they send out are always amazing and are packaged so beautifully. This was a massive box that was delivered and I was so excited to start using all of the items. So here is what was inside the kit –

  1. A gorgeous, soft face cloth
  2. DetoxifEYE de-puffing eye patches
  3. Glow tonic cleansing gel
  4. Glow tonic exfoliating toner
  5. Glow tonic radiance serum
  6. T Zone peel off mask
  7. Glow mud mask
  8. 3 brightening sheet masks
  9. On the Glow moisture stick
  10. Phenomenal Gel

I told you the kit was huge and now you can understand what I meant!

Hero products in the range

As I mentioned before, I’ve used Liz Earle Cleanser for years which is cream based so it was quite a different experience using the Glow Tonic cleanser which is a cooling gel but I absolutely love this product. It’s refreshing and a really nice alternative to use in the hotter Summer months. Pixi are famous for their toners and so I wasn’t surprised to find that I loved using the glow tonic as well. I used this daily after cleansing and it left my skin feeling really clean and bright.

Serums – my latest skincare obsession…

The next stage of my routine was using the Glow Tonic serum. This is not something that I’ve ever used in my skincare routine before and I wasn’t sure exactly if it would make a difference or not. I can officially say that I am converted and will always use a serum now as they make a HUGE difference. This helps to gently exfoliate the skin whilst hydrating and nourishing. It also softens, refines and restores radiance to give you smooth, balanced skin. I’ve discovered that serums are such a game changer and I wish I found them sooner!

The bottle has a pipette dropper in the lid which you can use to apply a couple of drops of the product directly onto the skin. This serum is a little sticky but it dries down quickly, ready for you to add your moisturiser for the final stage.  Again, I’ve mainly always used cream based moisturisers and the Phenomenal Gel was a new experience for me. It was a little sticky too but it leaves a nice refreshing feel on the skin.

Glow tonic additional products..

The rest of the items that were in the kit are not something that you would use on a daily basis but they are perfect for a pamper night or to give your skin an extra little boost throughout the month. My favourite product from these additional skincare items just has to be the DetoxifEYE de-puffing eye patches. If you suffer from tired eyes, dark circles or puffy under eye bags this is for you. I keep these in the fridge and use them a couple of times a week. These little eye patches are infused with cucumber and gold and are a soothing treat for popping under the eyes in the evening.

Final verdict – glow tonic collection

I have to say that after using this range for over 30 days, my skin really did look a lot brighter and glowing. I enjoyed the gel based products and the refreshing feeling that you get from using this range. It smells nice and not too overpowering which is great but if you are not a fan of sticky textures I would perhaps be more inclined to go for the Vitamin C range which I will tell you about next…

2 – The Vitamin C collection

The second kit that Pixi Beauty sent out to me was the latest Vitamin C range. This was a cute tub, stuffed full of skincare goodies and it had my name on it. I just love anything personalised like this and after receiving the first range you can appreciate how excited I was to test this out! So here were the items inside this kit:

  1. Vitamin C Juice cleanser
  2. Tonic brightening Toner
  3. Brightening Serum
  4. Vitamin C Caviar Balm leave on mask
  5. Moisturising lotion

The power of Vitamin C in skincare..

Vitamin C is one of THE hardest working skincare ingredients out there. It provides a brightening effect on the skin, gives you powerful antioxidant protection and adds a really refreshing radiance quality which is just perfect for skincare. It also boosts your skins collagen production which will give you firmer, more plump skin, whilst smoothing out those annoying fine lines and wrinkles. The final result is anti ageing and aims to give you younger looking skin – and who doesn’t want that!

Hero products in the range

The first product that caught my eye in this range has to be the cleanser, purely because of the bottle. It has a press pump feature which I am a little bit in love with. It just makes everything so much easier and is quick to use with cotton pads. This cleanser is a liquid, so again, something new for me but I will 100% be re-purchasing this when it has run out as it is an absolute must have. The glow tonic is very similar to that of the glow range and is also another staple item from this collection.

Moving onto the Vitamin C brightening Serum in this range. I prefer this to the glow serum as it is not sticky and it soaks into the skin beautifully. I have been using this daily and I could really notice the benefits in my skin just after a couple of days.

The moisturising lotion is a thin creamy consistency and this also sinks into the skin really easily. I’m not a huge fan of the fragrance of this though if I’m honest. It wants to be a zesty, fruity scent which I would have loved but there’s something just not quite right about it. That aside, it feels gorgeous on the skin and is a great moisturising product.

Final verdict – Vitamin C collection

After using the Vitamin C collection and the Glow collection daily for over 2 months and really comparing the two, my favourite has to be the Vitamin C range. It has honestly made my skin feel amazing and I was so impressed with the cleanser, that it’s right up there as one of my all time favourite products.

Both ranges are perfect for this hot Summer weather that we have been having and for keeping your skin hydrated, bright, glowing and fresh. Pixi Beauty has really pulled it out of the bag for these new skincare collections!

You can purchase all of the above items mentioned in this blog post and more on the Pixi Beauty website HERE , in the flagship London store, in UK retailers such as Boots, M&S or online at Cult Beauty.

Breakfast at the Fendi Cafe, Harrods

Fendi Cafe Harrods

Fendi is one of my all time favourite designer brands, so as soon as I heard that Harrods were hosting a pop up Fendi cafe for the Summer I couldn’t wait to visit! Located on the 5th Floor of the famous department store is the brand new cafe which is fashionista heaven.

A couple of weeks ago I went to try out the new cafe and luckily chose a good time to go as when I as leaving there were queues to get inside. I believe the queues can be up to an hour long so plan your visit in advance if you want to go to avoid waiting in line for eternity.

Fendi Fabulous

The cafe itself is a contemporary, monochrome design with the Fendi logo everywhere you turn and it was designed by artist Joshua Vides. We were shown to our table and presented with the menu – which of course was also covered in FF logos.

There were quite a few delicious choices from breakfasts to full Italian style cuisine such as antipasti, insalate (the beef carpaccio is a house special) and mains of lasagne, aubergine parmagiana and more. As it was still early for me, I went for the breakfast pastries. The coffees are also decorated with Fendi logos and they are presented with an adorable logo biscuit. It is an Instagrammers dream!

Peekaboo bag customisation

At the till, there were some fabulous cakes which were replicas of the Fendi Peeakboo handbags that looked exactly like the real thing.

In July, there was a pop-up Fendi Peekaboo bar, allowing shoppers to fully customise their own Mini Peekaboo bags. Customers were able to mix and match the body, handle and straps, to create their own unique style. There were over 20 different options for the body of the bag, 25 variations of handles and a further seven strap possibilities.

The cafe is likely to be seen all over your Instagram feeds throughout the summer, from the branded walls, tables, menus, plates and crockery. But if you want to visit, it will only be open at Harrods until 31st August.
