3 body products that are perfect if you have a sweet tooth

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I’m obsessed with body products that smell like sweets at the moment. I recently reviewed a gorgeous bubblegum flavoured lip scrub from Lush Cosmetics here and my love for sweet treats has continued to grow! I have been testing out a few brands and these are my top 3 body products for the month that are all sweet themed. If you have a sweet tooth like I do, then I can guarantee you will enjoy using these too!

Bilou body wash shower foams

I hadn’t used a shower foam before and I really enjoyed trying this! It is exactly like a shaving foam consistency and has a similar nozzle on the can. There are 5 flavours available – Fuzzy berry, Coco Cocktail, Cotton Candy, Tasty Donut and Pink Melon. The scent is more on the subtle side but it’s something a little different and a really nice sweet treat.
Priced at £3.99 each, these are also super affordable and fun to try out. You can buy these from most Superdrug stores or online here

Baylis & Harding hand washes

As soon as I spotted these I instantly fell in love with the pretty packaging. How pretty are these?! I could picture the bottles displayed in my bathroom or kitchen and they are such a sweet little addition to have by your sink.

I was really impressed at how fragrant these are as well. They smell absolutely beautiful and they leave a long lasting scent on the skin which I love. Out of the three that I tried, the Tropical Cocktail version is my favourite and it smells just like watermelon. Delicious!

Imperial Leather gel shower washes

I had to pick these up as soon as I saw them as they were giving me pure nostalgia about retro sweets from my childhood. They smell exactly like the real thing too and are literally good enough to eat.
Priced at only £1 per bottle, these were such a bargain and a really affordable little treat. I have received so many comments on these on Instagram and from being noticed on my bathroom shelf. They seem to make everyone smile! So, I think these would make great Christmas stocking fillers for someone that loves their sweets.
These are part of a great collection of gel body washes that Imperial Leather has out at the moment and they have some fab scents to choose from. You can buy these from most Boots stores or online.

Have you tried these yet? Let me know in the comments! Or let me know if you have any recommendations for any other products which have a sweet theme.

The new metallic sparkle lipsticks by Too Faced

I am a complete magpie and anything sparkly always gets my immediate attention. So, when I discovered the brand new metallic sparkle lipsticks by Too Faced I just had to try them out!

Colour shades

There are 10 shades in the collection ranging from pretty pinks, purples and reds as well as some more daring colours such as blue and vivid purple. I was tempted to go with the gorgeous light pink shade called ‘Marcia Marcia Marcia’ but I chose ‘Miss Thing’, a pretty peachy nude shade instead. These 10 shades are inspired by the original Too faced lipstick bullets but given an updated twist. This also includes 2 new 20th anniversary shades. I’m loving the sassy shade names too:
  • Hoochie – cool brown
  • Bionic – light blue
  • Hot Flash – crimson
  • Marcia Marcia Marcia – pretty baby pink
  • Miss Thing – peachy nude
  • Pixie Stick – vivid purple
  • That Girl – warm chocolate brown
  • Trampula – electric blue
  • TF20 – vivid pink
  • Too too hot – spicy red

Formula

The Too Faced website says this lipstick range is full coverage. I personally found the coverage to be on the lighter side than what I expected after swatching them on my hand.  However, if you layer this up with a couple of coats, you will get a more intense colour which is what I prefer. The end result was a multi-reflective glitter finish with a pretty sparkly sheen.
I love the overall look of this once applied and I was impressed with the creamy formula. You can wear the lipstick by itself, but I found it also looks really nice over the top of a matt lipstick. As always with Too Faced, this range is animal cruelty free which is also a plus point.

Packaging

Each lipstick case is in a sparkly shade that matches the colour inside which I absolutely love. These looked so fabulous lined up together on the makeup counter that it made me want to walk away with all of them! The box packaging is also completely sparkly and the top of the box has a cute heart detail which shows the name of the shade. I really love the packaging of this collection and I love having this in my handbag.

Value for money?

Each lipstick is priced at £18 which is a pretty standard price for premium make up brands. The stunning packaging and the quality of this range definitely justifies this price point. Plus, you will get a lot of use out of this so the cost per wear is really reasonable if you work it out this way.
You can purchase this new collection directly from Too Faced stores or on their website here
You will also find this in department stores that have a Too Faced counter.

Prepare your skin for Autumn with Lush Cosmetics

I admit that I haven’t been into a Lush store for a while as I mainly just associated them with their famous bath bomb products. However I visited the Brighton branch recently and I have to say that I have completely fallen in love with them!

As soon as you walk in the door of any Lush store the beautiful fragrances hit you straight away and this has become one of their signature traits. As I was walking around the store, I was really impressed with the huge variety of products from hair care, to skin care to body products and had such fun testing all of the samples. I hadn’t appreciated how many products that they offer.

I could have walked out of the store with bags of gorgeous items, but I picked out 2 products which particularly caught my eye that I was so excited to use and they certainly did not disappoint! I chose a pot of bubblegum flavoured lip scrub and a very unusual body scrub.

Lip scrub

You really have to smell this yourself to believe it. I’m not exaggerating when I say that it’s absolutely divine and just like the real thing! This little pot was only £6.50 and part of a collection of other flavours including Mint, Chocolate and honey so if you have a sweet tooth like I do, then I can guarantee you will enjoy these. I seem to be reaching for body products at the moment that are all sweet themed but at least it’s saving me on overindulging in real calories!

As we are transitioning into the Autumn season, I felt that it was a good time to get a lip scrub as when the weather changes I know that I will start to get chapped lips. This is also going to help to combat the dryness that you can get from wearing matt lipsticks or being in air conditioning during the day like I am.

This lip scrub is a great way to prep the lips by gently buffing and polishing away any dead skin cells and will keep them looking plump and healthy, as well as creating the perfect base for lipsticks. There are only 6 ingredients that are used to make this product. 2 natural (caster sugar and organic jojoba oil) and 4 others which make up the colour and flavouring but these are all safe synthetic ingredients.

Scrub Scrub Scrub

This body scrub is a brand new product on the market and it’s so unusual I just had to try it out! This body scrub is made up of black exfoliating crystals and I have never seen anything quite like this before. You don’t normally associate bath products that look like this but don’t let that put you off as it’s absolutely incredible. The lady in the store joked that it looks like it will clean the depths of your soul which made me laugh as it is definitely different.

As soon as I opened the lid the smell was beautiful and a rich mixture between blackberries and a kind of almost menthol scent. The crystals are actually infused with toning rosemary, grounding pine and refreshing buchu oils so that explains the aromatherapy type fragrance that this product has.

Powdered charcoal is also one of the key ingredients (hence the colour) and this is perfect for deeply cleaning the skin, leaving it with a great glow as well as having antibacterial properties.

The texture of charcoal is soft and dry which helps to exfoliate and cleanse so you will find this often in toothpaste products. There are a few jet black charcoal toothpastes that are available on the market at the moment and I have been seeing these in the stores and on Instagram.

An interesting fact about Lush is that they don’t use imported charcoal for their products. They use a UK based supplier as they are campaigners of encouraging and supporting local industries. Another key ingredient to mention in this scrub is sea salt. This is fantastic for softening and hydrating the skin, removing dead skin sells without stripping away too much natural oils.

I love the way my skin felt after using this and the deep, rich scent stayed on my skin for quite a long time which was really lovely. I feel that this is a great Autumn/Winter bath product and is going to help to keep my skin in excellent condition as the colder weather sets in. Also, if you are a fake tan fan like I am, this is also a great product to prep the skin before tan is applied.

Final thoughts about Lush

I love how this brand is all about ethical products and that everything is animal cruelty free and 100% vegetarian. Their packaging is all the same uniformed look which can be slightly confusing when trying to browse in the store. However, if you take your time and look into each product, the information is all there printed on the outside. If you have any questions though the staff are really knowledgeable and happy to talk about the products. Another cute detail is that every pot has a picture of who made the product. Everything is handmade and I think that’s a lovely little touch.

The last thing I have to mention is the fabulous pre-wrapped gifts that you can buy in Lush. I hadn’t realised this and will definitely be considering this in the future. I am a complete stationary addict and to see all of the beautiful gift wrap and selections that have been put together was really exciting. I am a sucker for good packaging!

I had such a great experience visiting Lush and will definitely be returning! Do you have any favourite Lush products? Leave me a comment below with any recommendations!

LullaBellz clip in hair pieces that I am loving right now

.

I have never been that girl that can do amazing things with her hair. I can do basic plaits, buns or curling but I would really love to be able to French plait or braid my hair properly. If there was a workshop on how to do this I would definitely be the first to sign up! To add to this, my hair is really fine and it’s is not the easiest to style. As soon as I step out the front door it becomes a bit of a wild mess so I’m always on the look out for easy tricks to make my hair more interesting.

With the options of what I am able to achieve myself being pretty limited, I was really excited to try out the clip in hair pieces from LullaBellz and to see the difference that they would make to my hair. I was really impressed with these products and I had to write a blog post to share these with you.

Clip in hair – the styles

There are a few options of clip in hair pieces on their website to choose from – from long lengths, shorter lengths and pre-styled/curled hair. I wanted to try a natural looking style but something that would give my hair a bit of a boost in terms of volume and length. So I decided to go for the Super thick 22″ 5 piece clip in sets in both the crimped wavy and the straight options to test them both out.

You can view the Super Thick 250g 5 Piece Straight Hair Extensions that I chose here and the Super Thick 22″ 5 Piece Crimped Wavy Clip In Hair Extensions here

These kits include 5 pieces of premium synthetic hair that clip into your hair. 3 wider pieces clip in at the back of your hair and 2 narrow pieces clip in at the side to frame your face and give all over length and volume. They’re pre-styled so you can literally clip them in and you’re good to go.

Choosing the colour

I have dark brown hair and this is exactly the shade that I chose from the colour chart, but there are 25 shades in total to choose from. I hoped for the best with the colour I had selected as it is not always easy to tell when ordering online, but luckily the colour was perfect for me. If you are really stuck and unsure which one to go for though, LullaBellz offer a free colour match service. All you need to do is send them a photograph and they will help you to choose the shade they think would be the closest match to your natural hair colour.

Quality and overall look

I have tried clip in hair pieces in the past and not been impressed with the quality. As soon as I took these out of the packet I was instantly impressed with the feel and quality of the hair. Considering these are synthetic pieces, they don’t feel plastic, overly shiny or artificial which is great. If you do find them on the shiny side though, you can add a bit of dry shampoo to them which will reduce this easily. I brushed each piece as soon as I took them out of the packaging as they can get tangled up. There was some slight fall out but this was expected and nothing to be worried about.

Here is the before picture of my natural hair:

Here is the transformation with both the straight and wavy pieces added to my hair:

Care instructions

These clip in hair pieces can be washed with hair extensions shampoo and conditioner and then left to dry naturally. It is also recommended that you store these on a hair extensions hanger to avoid tangling. LullaBellz sell hair wardrobe hanging bags on their website for this reason which I think is such a fab idea. You can brush them by using a soft bristle brush when brushing/detangling. I used a Tangle teaser brush which worked fine. These hair pieces are also heat resistant up to 180 degrees but there are a good range of styles available, so you can buy exactly what you want without the need to re-style the hair.

Worth the money?

The 5 piece clip in extensions sets are £28 which is a good price for the quality. I was lucky to get these discounted during a promotion so keep an eye out for their promotions. As I have such fine hair, I do find that wearing all 5 pieces a little bit heavy. I would mainly wear these for a night out or an event rather than every day use. However, if you have thicker hair you will find these easy to wear.

LullaBellz also sell a range of other hair pieces such as buns, pre made plaits and wigs. I really want to try out the wig selection and that’s next on my list of things to do. Look out for future blog posts on those!

I hope you enjoyed hearing my thoughts on the LullaBellz clip in hair pieces. Have you tried them before? I would love to hear what you tried and how you got on with them!

The 90s style trends that I just can’t get my head around

Image: Pinterest

There are a lot of fashion trends from the 90s that have come back into fashion over the last year. We have Kim Kardashian to thank for bringing back cycling shorts and bum bags. These were items that I never thought I would ever see again in the shops or in fashion magazines. I have grown to accept and love wearing some of these throw back styles, particularly cycling shorts, but I must admit that I really wasn’t sure to begin with when I first saw them back on the scene.

T-shirt and cycling shorts: Pretty Little Thing, Handbag: Jimmy Choo

However there are some trends that have come back that I just cannot get my head around and there are some emerging trends on the horizon which fill me with the real horrors. Will I grow to love these in the same way as cycling shorts and bum bags though? I doubt it, but I have been proven wrong on this already so only time will tell – fashion is a funny thing!

Here are a couple of the 90s inspired trends that I will not be investing in:

Ugly trainers..

Balenciaga started off this trend with their extra chunky soled trainers. Other designers such as Prada and Stella McCartney followed suit and this has now filtered into the high street with sports brands such as Fila and Adidas creating some really scary looking shoes. I love a pair of trainers but these just don’t do it for me. I have short stumpy legs anyway and don’t think these will be the most flattering of options. These kind of trainers remind me of something a geeky teacher would have worn or Roy Cropper from Coronation Street. It has me wondering if anyone else thinks this when they look at these?

Sports brands..

Kappa, Ellesse, Fila, Umbro, Diadora – oh my goodness if you wore these brands when I was younger you would be seriously laughed at.  The next generation though, see these as cool retro brands. For me, as they were so awful back when they first came out I just can’t bring myself to ever wear them. The adidas popper trouser (also brought back by Kim K) being a classic example of one of these trends that should have stayed buried back in the 90s school era days. I bet these brands are over the moon though that they have a new lease of life though which is pretty amazing.

There are 2 new trends that are in the pipe line that are also scaring me.

Shell Suits

Online retailers are slowly starting to bring in their Pre-Fall season clothing and I have noticed shell suits popping up. These are giving me major flash backs to my youth when everyone was wearing them. The slightly crunchy, fire hazardous material, the contrasting colours and bold stripes and the endless jokes about looking like the 3 scousers from the Harry Enfield sketch shows.

To be fair, I can see this trend catching on and blowing up. I think it could actually be the next cycling short and there is a chance I will end up getting involved in this myself once the weather cools down a bit.

Here is the version currently on sale at Pretty Little Thing. What do you think about this? Are you loving it or are you not sure about this trend coming back?

Eyebrows

In the 90s practically every girl had eyebrows plucked within an inch of their life – thin and arched as much as possible. There were quite a few make up shockers from that era – who remembers the dark brown lipliner paired with a contrasting creamy light lipstick look that everyone would wear? I was guilty of this myself!  At the time this was the fashion though and nobody batted a white eye-lined eyelid at it, however looking back it was pretty awful.

Like a lot of trends I suppose but they were part of the era and we all have a lot of funny photos to look back on. The August edition of Vogue features a front cover with Rhianna and she has the thinnest eyebrows I have seen in a very long time. Us females have only just started to get used to having thicker bushy brows, and many of us spend a fortune on micro blading and HD brows to get the perfect pair of Insta worthy arches. I personally will never be going back in time into this thin brow trend.

It makes me wonder if people buy into the latest trends purely because everyone else is, or because they genuinely love the look. Personally, I won’t wear clothes just for the trend factor. I have to feel good in what I am wearing and that’s become a new rule of mine now whenever I am shopping – if I don’t 100% love it or if I have any doubts then I will not buy it. There’s nothing worse than getting your shopping home and deciding you don’t like half of it after all.

I would love to hear your thoughts on the 90s inspired trends that are about at the moment. Are you wearing them and loving it or are there some items that you wouldn’t want to try?
