There’s nothing better than a fresh bouquet of flowers and the benefits of having them around your home are amazing. I personally love styling my home with flowers and I’ve been trying out different varieties lately. It’s a really nice idea to buy flowers seasonally also, such as tulips in the Spring time or sunflowers during the Summer months. Here are 4 benefits of having fresh flowers in the home.

1. Mood lifting/stress reduction
It’s so lovely to see brightly coloured, fresh flowers when you wake up in the morning. Studies have proven that having flowers in the kitchen, living room or hallway can have a really positive effect on your mood and can help to beat the morning blues. Having fresh flowers around the home will help you to feel more relaxed and less anxious too. This is perfect if you are studying or working at home to help to help you to relax and feel calmer.
2. They can compliment your interior design
Interior design trends come and go, but accessorising your home with flowers will always be in style. Combining flowers with a beautiful vase can create a real focal point in a room too. If you have a large hallway, having a table with a gorgeous flower arrangement can really lift the whole space and be the perfect thing to see as you open the front door. Flowers and plants are also a great way to bring texture into a room. By simply changing the colour scheme and texture of the flowers in your home, you can easily bring in a new look indoors every other week.
3. Flowers clear the air
Indoor flowers and plants have a number of health benefits. They can help to eliminate harmful pollutants that can cause things such as headaches, coughs, colds, allergies and tiredness. Leafy green plants and flowers purify the air and release oxygen, while absorbing toxins in the air so they are not only nice to look at, they help you health wise too!
4. Some flowers even help you sleep
Not only are Jasmine plants really pretty and have a gorgeous sweet scent, but they are linked to reducing anxiety levels and improving sleep quality.
Lavender is also another great example of this. It’s proven to lower the heart rate, blood pressure and is the perfect plant to have in the bedroom to help aid relaxation and a better nights sleep. You will often find lavender in bath products which are a lovely to use before you get ready for bed.

We all live busy lifestyles and one of the best ways to relax is by going to the Spa. I personally love spending an afternoon in a Spa and I’m always searching online for new ones to try! There is something so nice about turning your phone off and getting away from it all, sitting in a peaceful environment whilst being pampered. Heaven. So why not have the same experience at home in your own bathroom!
These are my top 5 tips on how to bring that gorgeous spa feeling into your home.
This is the first place to start when creating the ultimate relaxing space. It’s a well known fact that being surrounded by clutter can add to you feeling stressed out. So, try to avoid having lots of things being on display. Straw or metal style baskets are great and make brilliant storage ideas for a bathroom. Arrange a stylish display of the main beauty products that you will be using for an evening of pampering.
Introduce some nature..
Adding some plants or flowers into your bathroom is a really easy and affordable way to add that Spa like touch. This will enhance the peaceful and comfortable feel that you are going for. Try filling a vase with some chic white flowers, or displaying a fresh green plant in a wicker, basket style base. You could even try hanging potted plants on the wall. ASOS have a really cool selection of hanging plants HERE
Update your towels..
It’s time to get rid of any towels that have seen better days and treat yourself to fresh new ones. Indulge yourself in getting fluffy, comforting bath towels and look for the larger sized bath sheets for that luxurious spa feeling! It’s also a nice touch to get hand towels that are in a matching colour or design. If you are feeling extra boujee, add a gorgeous new dressing gown into your bathroom that you can also relax in.
Add calming scents..
Aromatherapy will add that little something extra into your home spa and will boost the relaxing environment. Candles, reed diffusers, soaps and lotions are the easiest ways to set the mood and will all help to add scents into the bathroom. Try fragrances like lavender, jasmine or vanilla which will help to create that calming effect.
Set the lighting..
Avoiding harsh lights is one of the key things in setting the scene for a spa like feel. Think soft glows and mood lighting. You can get bathroom cabinets that have LED lights to soften the lighting or you can have a dimmer light switch installed so you can adjust the lighting to how you want it. This can change the whole atmosphere in the room and can transport you instantly into relaxation mode!

There is something quite serene about shopping in a Zara home store. Is it the beautiful smell of diffusers and candles that greet you as you walk in the door? Or perhaps it is because everything is neatly grouped together by colour tones which definitely helps to make my inner OCD happy. I’m not sure exactly what it is, but it is addictive and it pulls me in every time!
I had a stroll around London’s Regent street this week in the sunshine and was drawn into the Zara homewear store. I was inspired and just had to let you all know about the new items that are now available. I really like this particular store as it has the most gorgeous marble and gold central spiral staircase which spans over 3 floors.
The bed linen is one of my favourite things in Zara home and in the entrance way was a beautifully made bed with a pretty spring floral print in dusky pink and lilacs. I must admit that Zara bed linen is slightly more expensive compared to other stores on the high street, but they do have a higher thread count which is a sign of a better quality material.
Sometimes I feel that it’s better to spend slightly more on items that you know you will get a lot of use out of over time and new smart fresh bedding is an instant mood lifter. Zara do have great mid season sales though and you can often grab a real bargain on bedding when it has been reduced.
Top of my wish list was a duvet cover with matching pillow case set which is in a Versace inspired mosaic print. The print is a light gold thread and looks really classy. I also seem to have a thing at the moment for palm or leaf print designs and I came across the perfect set for a pretty spring bedroom look.
There was a new range of diffusers which I really liked. I have a slight obsession with these and love to have them around my home. Not only do they look smart displayed as an accessory, but they add a nice scent to a room and are particularly great for hallways.
Zara accessories are super affordable and they always have a great selection of different styles and colours. If you are looking for a photo frame or little decorative item you will definitely find something that suits your own home style. A good tip is to keep your rooms and furniture a neutral colour and then use colourful accessories to lift the room. This way, you can change your accessories during the year to give your rooms a new look. Fresh, bright colours are perfect for the summer months and rich jewel tones look great over the Autumn/Winter months.
