Cinere – The skincare products that I have been using this month

As most of you will already know I love trying new skincare products. I first came across the Cinere brand a while ago when I received a PR package which included a sample of their eye make up remover. I really liked this product and I’ve been using it ever since. So when Cinere contacted me to ask me to try out a few more items from their skincare range you can imagine how excited I was!

About the brand..

Cinere is a skincare brand that focuses on natural products made using only pure ingredients, herbal extracts, essential oils and other natural therapeutic elements. As a company they are passionate about quality and the science behind how their products are made.

The Products..

Gentle eye make up remover

I tend to use a lot of eye make up products from dark shadows, to eye liners, glitters and full length mascaras. To remove these, it’s important that I use a product that is gentle around the delicate eye area. This is why I personally prefer a liquid based eye make up remover than a cream, so I was really impressed with this product. It removes all traces of stubborn eye make up and feels lovely and cooling on the eyes. There is nothing better than that after a long day and when you are feeing tired. This formula doesn’t feel sticky or oily either which I have found with some liquid eye make up removers I’ve previously tried.

The main features of this eye make up remover that I like are below:

  • Gentle and non allergenic formula
  • Removes all traces of makeup including waterproof mascara
  • Conditions the eye lashes and hydrates the delicate skin around the eyes
  • The skin feels revived, refreshed, soft and clean after using it.
  • It’s safe for sensitive eyes and contact lens wearers

100% natural cleansing milk

This is a very gentle cleanser which is a milky consistency. This is slightly different to the cream cleansers that I usually tend to use so it was interesting to try something slightly different. It feels very light and smooth to touch and is a milk and gel combination formula. As with all cleansers, this rids the skin of oil, dirt and make up residue without stripping it of any natural oils. I apply this to my face with my hands and massage it into the skin. I then remove this afterwards by using a warm cloth and lightly buffing in a circular motion.

The main features of this cleanser that I like are below:

  • It’s non allergenic and alcohol free
  • Helps to keep the skin hydrated
  • Leaves the skin soft and smooth after use.
  • This has a pump applicator which is so handy to use.

Herbal Energising Cleansing Toner

Using a toner after cleansing is a really important part of your skincare routine. It helps to remove any left over oil, dirt or make up that you might have missed during cleansing. It also feels really cooling on the skin which I like. and you feel really fresh and clean afterwards. This product is soap free and can be used as part of your daily skincare routine. It is also a good way to prepare the skin before you apply your moisturiser.

This toner helps to lift dead skin cells which is great for reducing any dry skin patches. I have really enjoyed using this toner after cleansing my face and my skin feels really soft and clear at the moment. A nice smooth skin base is exactly what you want and really improves that way make up sits on your skin.

The main advantages of this toner that I like are below:

  • It conditions, nourishes, hydrates and protects whilst providing a softening and soothing effect on the skin.
  • My skin looks brighter and feels more refreshed from using this over the last few weeks.
  • It gently dissolves makeup and excess oil without drying the skin.
  • This product is infused with Lavender and Chamomile.

Hydra Plus, Timeless moisturising cream

At this time of the year, my skin tends to get quite dry, so I always like to use a hydrating moisturiser to help combat this issue. I have been enjoying using this product this month as it has kept my skin feeling silky and velvety in texture. It isn’t sticky either which always puts me off with a moisturiser. This product contains Argan oil and those of you who like your skincare will know that this is perfect for rehydrating dry skin and giving you a radiant complexion.

Again, this comes with a pump applicator which makes using this so much easier.

The main advantages of this toner that I like are below:

  • Regenerates and hydrates skin for a radiant appearance
  • Contains natural moisturising ingredients
  • It soothes, softens and hydrates dry, tired skin
  • Suitable for dry/normal skin

Final thoughts..

I always like to try new skincare products for a few weeks before I can really tell if they have worked for me or not. I have enjoyed using these products and my favourite items from the range are the toner and the eye make up remover. When it comes to cleansers I’m quite fussy and I already have a firm favourite brand that I like to use. I would say if you tend to wear a fuller face of make up like I do, that this might not be the cleanser for you. However, the toner is fantastic for that second stage of your routine and I really recommend trying this out. my skin feels great after using this on a daily basis.

3 body products that are perfect if you have a sweet tooth

If you follow me on Instagram, you’ll know that I’m obsessed with body products that smell like sweets at the moment. I recently reviewed a gorgeous bubblegum flavoured lip scrub from Lush Cosmetics here and my love for sweet treats has continued to grow! I have been testing out a few brands and these are my top 3 body products for the month that are all sweet themed. If you have a sweet tooth like I do, then I can guarantee you will enjoy using these too!

Bilou body wash shower foams

I hadn’t used a shower foam before and I really enjoyed trying this! It is exactly like a shaving foam consistency and has a similar nozzle on the can. There are 5 flavours available – Fuzzy berry, Coco Cocktail, Cotton Candy, Tasty Donut and Pink Melon. The scent is more on the subtle side but it’s something a little different and a really nice sweet treat.
Priced at £3.99 each, these are also super affordable and fun to try out. You can buy these from most Superdrug stores or online here

Baylis & Harding hand washes

As soon as I spotted these I instantly fell in love with the pretty packaging. How pretty are these?! I could picture the bottles displayed in my bathroom or kitchen and they are such a sweet little addition to have by your sink.

I was really impressed at how fragrant these are as well. They smell absolutely beautiful and they leave a long lasting scent on the skin which I love. Out of the three that I tried, the Tropical Cocktail version is my favourite and it smells just like watermelon. Delicious!

Imperial Leather gel shower washes

I had to pick these up as soon as I saw them as they were giving me pure nostalgia about retro sweets from my childhood. They smell exactly like the real thing too and are literally good enough to eat.
Priced at only £1 per bottle, these were such a bargain and a really affordable little treat. I have received so many comments on these on Instagram and from being noticed on my bathroom shelf. They seem to make everyone smile! So, I think these would make great Christmas stocking fillers for someone that loves their sweets.
These are part of a great collection of gel body washes that Imperial Leather has out at the moment and they have some fab scents to choose from. You can buy these from most Boots stores or online.

Prepare your skin for Autumn with Lush Cosmetics

I admit that I haven’t been into a Lush store for a while as I mainly just associated them with their famous bath bomb products. However I visited the Brighton branch recently and I have to say that I have completely fallen in love with them!

As soon as you walk in the door of any Lush store the beautiful fragrances hit you straight away and this has become one of their signature traits. As I was walking around the store, I was really impressed with the huge variety of products from hair care, to skin care to body products and had such fun testing all of the samples. I hadn’t appreciated how many products that they offer.

I could have walked out of the store with bags of gorgeous items, but I picked out 2 products which particularly caught my eye that I was so excited to use and they certainly did not disappoint! I chose a pot of bubblegum flavoured lip scrub and a very unusual body scrub.

Lip scrub

You really have to smell this yourself to believe it. I’m not exaggerating when I say that it’s absolutely divine and just like the real thing! This little pot was only £6.50 and part of a collection of other flavours including Mint, Chocolate and honey so if you have a sweet tooth like I do, then I can guarantee you will enjoy these. I seem to be reaching for body products at the moment that are all sweet themed but at least it’s saving me on overindulging in real calories!

As we are transitioning into the Autumn season, I felt that it was a good time to get a lip scrub as when the weather changes I know that I will start to get chapped lips. This is also going to help to combat the dryness that you can get from wearing matt lipsticks or being in air conditioning during the day like I am.

This lip scrub is a great way to prep the lips by gently buffing and polishing away any dead skin cells and will keep them looking plump and healthy, as well as creating the perfect base for lipsticks. There are only 6 ingredients that are used to make this product. 2 natural (caster sugar and organic jojoba oil) and 4 others which make up the colour and flavouring but these are all safe synthetic ingredients.

Scrub Scrub Scrub

This body scrub is a brand new product on the market and it’s so unusual I just had to try it out! This body scrub is made up of black exfoliating crystals and I have never seen anything quite like this before. You don’t normally associate bath products that look like this but don’t let that put you off as it’s absolutely incredible. The lady in the store joked that it looks like it will clean the depths of your soul which made me laugh as it is definitely different.

As soon as I opened the lid the smell was beautiful and a rich mixture between blackberries and a kind of almost menthol scent. The crystals are actually infused with toning rosemary, grounding pine and refreshing buchu oils so that explains the aromatherapy type fragrance that this product has.

Powdered charcoal is also one of the key ingredients (hence the colour) and this is perfect for deeply cleaning the skin, leaving it with a great glow as well as having antibacterial properties.

The texture of charcoal is soft and dry which helps to exfoliate and cleanse so you will find this often in toothpaste products. There are a few jet black charcoal toothpastes that are available on the market at the moment and I have been seeing these in the stores and on Instagram.

An interesting fact about Lush is that they don’t use imported charcoal for their products. They use a UK based supplier as they are campaigners of encouraging and supporting local industries. Another key ingredient to mention in this scrub is sea salt. This is fantastic for softening and hydrating the skin, removing dead skin sells without stripping away too much natural oils.

I love the way my skin felt after using this and the deep, rich scent stayed on my skin for quite a long time which was really lovely. I feel that this is a great Autumn/Winter bath product and is going to help to keep my skin in excellent condition as the colder weather sets in. Also, if you are a fake tan fan like I am, this is also a great product to prep the skin before tan is applied.

Final thoughts about Lush

I love how this brand is all about ethical products and that everything is animal cruelty free and 100% vegetarian. Their packaging is all the same uniformed look which can be slightly confusing when trying to browse in the store. However, if you take your time and look into each product, the information is all there printed on the outside. If you have any questions though the staff are really knowledgeable and happy to talk about the products. Another cute detail is that every pot has a picture of who made the product. Everything is handmade and I think that’s a lovely little touch.

The last thing I have to mention is the fabulous pre-wrapped gifts that you can buy in Lush. I hadn’t realised this and will definitely be considering this in the future. I am a complete stationary addict and to see all of the beautiful gift wrap and selections that have been put together was really exciting. I am a sucker for good packaging!

I had such a great experience visiting Lush and will definitely be returning! Do you have any favourite Lush products? Leave me a comment below with any recommendations!

New moisturising body yoghurts from The Body Shop

When I was younger, The Body Shop was always somewhere that I would like to visit. If you are from the same 90s school era as me, you will remember their white musk perfume that everyone used to wear, the little pearl bath oils, the soap shaped like fruit or animals, the distinctive logo and the packaging that all of the products had. I feel all nostalgic just thinking about it!

Ethical Values

Not only were The Body Shop founded in Brighton (which I absolutely love, being a Brighton girl myself), but they have always been active campaigners against any form of animal testing and have a strong belief in ethically sourced and produced skincare, haircare, fragrance, body products and make up.

This is a really hot topic in today’s society as people have really woken up to environmental issues, so the fact they started with this mindset back in the late 70s is so inspirational.

I’m not too sure what happened, but the Body Shop really fell off my radar for quite a few years if I am honest, until recently when they have caught my eye again and I am so pleased about this because they have had such a style make over and I am seriously impressed.

The classic logo remains the same but the branding and packaging has had a sleek makeover. The products all still have those beautiful bold fruity scents too but the range of products has really expanded and it is not easy to go in there without picking up a load of products that you get the urge to try out!

The Body Yogurts

I went into the Brighton store the other day and fell in love with a brand new range of body yoghurts that have recently launched onto the market which are 100% vegan friendly. These are the cutest pots and have a generous amount of body cream in a selection of different scents, and let me tell you, they literally smell good enough to eat. I chose a pot of the mango as well as the strawberry and I have been using them daily. They have a cool gel like consistency and the thing I love the most about these is how quick they dry into your skin. The texture is nice and lightweight without any stickiness what so ever which is perfect for these hot summer days at the moment, when you still want soft skin but without feeling uncomfortable.

These body yogurts claim to give you 48 hours of moisture in the skin but I have been using these every day and been really enjoying using them as you can quickly apply it to the skin and get dressed pretty much straight away. If you’re anything like me, I just don’t have the patience to wait for a body cream to dry and creams like that put me off wanting to use them again.

Each body yoghurt is enriched with community trade organic almond milk from Spain and a little goes a long way – the only tricky part is choosing a favorite, but at £8.50 per tub you can definitely afford to treat yourself to more than one.

There are 6 gorgeous scents to choose from including: Mango, Strawberry, British Rose, Moringa, Coconut and Almond milk which are all nature inspired flavours.

Overall verdict

On a final note, The Body Shop now have a loyalty card scheme which is free to join and every time you earn over 500 points when spending in store, you will receive £5 back to spend. They will also send you a gift on your birthday and send out regular emails with discounts and deals to take advantage of. You can find these body yogurts and the rest of their gorgeous range in store or online here

The eye product you need to try to fight dark circles

I have suffered with dark circles under my eyes for a while and they literally drive me mad. There is nothing worse than having a full face of glam makeup being ruined by the dreaded discoloration under the eyes still showing through. Even if I had a full 8 hours sleep a night, I was still waking up the next day with the same tired looking eyes. I have tried a lot of different products to reduce this problem and have really struggled to find something that I am happy with until recently when I came across the Kiehl’s midnight recovery eye cream.

The formula

This is specially formulated for the delicate under eye area and claims to achieve fresher, younger looking eyes, while reducing the appearance of fine lines and wrinkles. After reading this, I had to try this for myself.

I have been using this cream for around 3 weeks now during my evening beauty regime and I have to say it has really helped a lot. I can definitely notice a reduction in puffiness and the dark shadows have improved. I can’t say that it has completely removed the problem as I actually don’t think a product exists on the market that completely gets rid of dark circles forever (if there is one please let me know!!) however this is the best that I have tried so far and I am really happy with the results.

Using the eye cream

The tube is 15ml which seemed really tiny at first but you only need to apply a small amount. As soon as you put it onto your skin it melts into a luxurious lightweight cream and you will feel a very slight tightening sensation which I love as it feels like it is getting to work straight away! As with all eye creams it is important to press lightly around the eye area and using your ring finger, without dragging or pulling the skin. We don’t want to make things worse for ourselves!

What ingredients are in the eye cream?

Here are the list of ingredients used to create this eye product:

·         Squalane which helps to restore the skins natural moisture balance to keep it soft and supple.

·         Lavender Essential Oil to help soothe and begin the repair process for fresher looking eyes.

·         Evening primrose oil which is an effective on skin barrier and helps to boost radiance.

·         Butchers broom which improves microcirculation, reduces inflammation and puffiness while soothing the skin.

Why do we get dark circles anyway? Well this could be anything down to genetics, age, allergies, lack of sleep or over indulging in alcohol.

I have also recently been using the Revolution concealer in the shade C8 which has been a real favourite  drug store product among make up bloggers and YouTubers and is now a staple item in my makeup collection. For the price of this concealer, the quality and consistency is excellent and is very similar to a concealer by Tarte Cosmetics but a more affordable option which is great. You can buy products from Revolution here or in Superdrug stores, however they are not always in stock in store as they now have quite a cult following, but if you haven’t tried this yet I highly recommend it.

Let me know what your hero products are for combating dark eye circles. I would love to hear what you are using to combat this issue.

You can purchase the Kielh’s Midnight recovery Eye cream here.
