Femme Luxe: October Edit

Femme Luxe Ciara ruffle bodysuit

Today’s blog post is another clothing haul from Femme Luxe who I have worked with in the past. I had so many messages when my previous review was posted (HERE,) telling me how much you loved all of the pieces. So, here is another Femme Luxe styling report! I can’t wait to show you the items that I picked out and how I would style them into each outfit.

Loungewear – Maria black tracksuit

Loungewear is an absolute must have in your wardrobe and it’s what you will find me wearing most of the time, especially when I’m travelling or at home. I’m always looking for new tracksuits or loungewear sets and usually feel that you need to invest in better quality pieces, at a higher price point, that you will get a lot of wear out of. So I wanted to test out this loungewear set from Femme Luxe and I was really pleasantly surprised with how soft the fabric is! I chose a classic black set and this is a really easy outfit to style with sneakers or sliders in the warmer months. This would also look great with some perspex heels for a more dressed up look.

This particular loungeset is the ‘Maria’ and I’m going to have to pick it up in some of the other colours as I really like this set. It’s available in black, grey, wine, khaki, and beige and is priced at £27.98 which is so affordable.

Femme Luxe have some great loungewear sets HERE in a variety of colours, textures and patterns so you have a decent selection to choose from.

Cargo Pants – Sunny

I’ve worn cargo pants in the past but they never looked quite right on me but I was excited to try these as I liked the fact that they were high waisted and a slim fit. And the result? I just LOVE these trousers!! They are really flattering and the fit is beautiful. They also have a nice stretch to them which I appreciate. I really like the elastic cuffed ankles as they taper the leg and finish off the silhouette perfectly. You can style these with a simple t-shirt or a fine knit jumper with trainers, or you could pair them with ankle boots for a more urban chic style.

Femme Luxe Cargo pants

These are the Sunny Cargo pants in Khaki green and they are available in a couple of camo print options as well as a stone or black colourway.

Femme Luxe also have a fabulous selection of trousers HERE – especially their denim range. I tried a pair of their jeans in my previous blog post which I was really impressed with, so I definitely recommend checking out their denim pieces.

Pink ruffle mesh bodysuit – Ciara

I have a thing for ruffle details on clothes. They are so pretty and add a lovely feminine touch to an outfit. So when I saw this Ciara bodysuit I had to try it. I have styled this with black jeans, a Gucci belt and a fedora hat which is perfect for the Autumn season. You could wear this body with light denim mom jeans or for a more evening look you could pair it with some cigarette trousers. This is a cute, fun piece to add to your wardrobe and mesh material is so on trend at the moment. I went for the size 10/12 and just to let you all know that this is also available in a white colour option.

Black polka dot, fishnet sleeve shirt – Iona

The final piece that I chose is this cute polka dot shirt. Another mesh piece and something smart to wear to the office but can also take you through to an evening out afterwards which I love. The mesh is soft on the skin which I was happy about as sometimes mesh fabrics can be slightly scratchy and uncomfortable. I’ve styled this with jeans, biker boots and a vintage Dior handbag. I think this will also look gorgeous with leather trousers or tucked into a skirt with tights – especially for the Autumn season.

It’s available in both black and white HERE and I went for the UK size 10.

Overall verdict

Femme Luxe are becoming one of my favourite online clothing stores as they have some really gorgeous pieces at affordable prices. I think from this selection that I tried, the cargo pants were the overall winners for me and I will be wearing these a lot throughout this Autumn as there are a few different ways I have in mind to style them. Follow me over on my Instagram page for my fashion related posts.

There are a lot of options to choose from on the Femme Luxe website whether you are looking for an every day outfit, to something for a night out. As I mentioned before in my previous post, they are adding new pieces to their website regularly so it’s worth keeping an eye out for new items that are uploaded.

Broderie Anglaise: The style to be wearing this Summer

This Summer is having a major moment with Broderie Anglaise. Neons, Tie dye, satin skirts – there have been a few things to be seen in recently and these are the sort of trends that don’t stay around for long and you end up sick of the sight of them. However, Broderie Anglaise is something that will equally be as wearable for future Summers to come which makes it something to invest in. It’s a classic and stylish fabric that is just perfect for the warmer months of the year.

What is Broderie Anglaise?

Broderie Anglaise translates as ‘English Embroidery’ and is a material that has a real history to it – from as early as the late 1800s and it still looks amazing today. It incorporates embroidery, cutwork and needle lace to make delicate, romantic pieces that are lightweight and effortlessly stylish. It’s a really pretty, feminine material which I’m loving wearing at the moment and I’ve been seeing some amazing pieces on the high street.

It’s also the perfect fabric to dress up an outfit, as well as being worn in a casual relaxed outfit so its a really easy style to get involved in.

Shopping for Broderie Anglaise clothing

ASOS and Topshop have some excellent Broderie Anglaise pieces this season, from puff sleeve blouses to pretty dresses, playsuits to jumpsuits and gorgeous skirts or shorts. Its a material that works well in so many silhouettes so you are guaranteed to find something that is perfect for your own personal style.

The majority of the stores are starting their Summer sale periods so now is an excellent time to pick up some pieces for a reduced price.

Mix it up in your wardrobe

Don’t just think of this as just a white or neutral material. It looks amazing in bright shades, pretty pastels, as well as black or navy and I’ve even seen some gorgeous colourful Broderie Anglaise items that will look fabulous on a sunny day. It’s also something you could wear easily to work, or for a day out in the City, just as easily as going for a casual weekend brunch.

As you can tell, I am a huge fan already. I’ve done the shopping for you and picked out some of the best favourite Broderie Anglaise items that are available at the moment, from both high street budgets to some more high end pieces.

Trend Report: The rise of Instagrammable cafes

It seems like every other week there’s a new cafe or cake shop opening in London that gets everyone excited to visit. I love finding new places to try and there is a real trend at the moment for these Instagrammable hot spots.

Pretty Interior desings

The interior design of these places is what grabs the attention of visitors from friends, mums and daughters to influencers and bloggers, all looking to get that perfect Instagram shot whilst indulging in gorgeous treats. The interior design of these places are getting more and more extravagant too. It’s not just neon signs and flower walls anymore – its moved onto walls covered in love hearts, flower swings and even flying unicorns!

For today’s blog post, I’ve put together a list of some of the most Instagrammabe cafes in London that I love at the moment for you to try out.

Plan your visit before you go

The most important thing to remember before you go to one of these places is to plan your visit. I would aim to go on a week day when it’s a bit quieter rather than at the weekend. They are not always the largest of venues and they can tend to get a bit mobbed, especially on a Saturday. I would advise to go quite early too. Nine times out of ten, you cannot book a table so if you go during lunchtime hours you will have to wait and queue and there’s nothing fun about that.

1. Peggy Porschen Cakes

Peggy Porschen is one of the original famous cake shops in London, as well as being the most recognisable on Instagram. She certainly draws in a crowd! The pretty pink store is always decorated with flowers around the doorway and they change the displays throughout the year. For example Halloween last year they had a pink crystal flower skull, and for Valentines day they had a huge floral heart display.

The cakes are really good and its the perfect place to sit outside on their cute pink tables and watch the world go by. Due to how popular this place is, there is a time restriction on your stay but it’s definitely one of my favourite places to visit. They have also just opened a brand new store in Kings Road which I’m excited to try out soon. You can read about when I first visited the original store in a previous blog post HERE

2. Elan Cafe

Elan Cafe is one of the more recent places to rise to Insta fame and they are expanding at a rapid rate! There are now several branches to try and they are the most boujee cafes in London. Each branch is decorated differently so you will want to try them all. They all have a pretty pink theme throughout and are covered in stunning florals and fun displays such as the love heart wall and hanging unicorns. These cafes are literally every girls dream venue. They offer a lovely selection of lunches and pastries too. You can see the photos of my recent visit in a previous blog post here.

3. Knot Churros

If you have a sweet tooth then you will absolutely love this place. Choose from one of their signature churros with cinnamon, or one that’s dipped with Belgian or white chocolate. Or if you are really feeling extra, you can go all out and have a churro served with ice cream, topped with candy floss. I had to try this option of course!

It’s quite a small venue with cute booths and the tables have decorations on them as well as the beautiful swing which is decorated with hanging flowers in a sort of jungle chic setting.

4. Maitre Choux

From leopard print, to rainbow striped, to covered in sparkly gems, Maitre Choux pastries have it all. I love the pretty designs and when you see their decorated choux pastry fingers all lined up in the counter looking beautiful, you will just fall in love with them! I didn’t realise that these fingers actually have a chilled cream centre and I’ll be honest and admit that I don’t actually like the taste of them which is such a shame. But, they do have other styles that are non-cream filled options if that’s not your thing either. However, I love the Kensington store and it’s definitely worth a visit!

Saint Aymes

This place is on my to-do list of Instgrammable cafe places that I need to visit. It always looks so beautiful and the window is of course, always dressed to impress with gorgeous flowers. They are well known for their pretty pastel coloured unicorn lattes and 24 ct gold milkshakes. Watch out for future Instagram posts as I cannot wait to try this place out!
